Organisation Details

Roleystone Horse and Pony Sanctuary is an equine sanctuary based in the Shipley area of Bradford, West Yorkshire. They rely solely on generous donations from the public. Without this wonderful support they would not be able to continue with their work. They accommodate more than 20 horses across 12 acres of land.

Project Details

The sanctuary is run entirely by local volunteers who are passionate about horses. Supporting these horses is very time consuming, so tasks around the site or often hard to complete. Your team will support with completing the below:

  • Repainting all fences and timber structures
  • Repairing fencing
  • Building horse shelters
  • Painting office
  • General site tidy up

Number of volunteers

This project can accommodate up to 25 volunteers on the agreed date.

On-site support

On the day Participate will be providing a member of staff to support the volunteers. A trained first aider and first aid kit will be available during the challenge. A tools talk and health and safety briefing will be given by Participate at the beginning of the day.

Preparation

Volunteers will be undertaking construction, painting and gardening activities and are required to wear old and reasonably robust clothing that they do not mind being potentially stained by paint. Volunteers should pay particular attention to footwear wearing tough shoes or boots. Do not wear heeled or open toe shoes, this included crocs and flip flops. This is a relatively low risk challenge and where personal protective equipment is required it will be provided. This will include safety gloves. This challenge is taking place outdoors and as such the volunteers should be prepared for inclement weather or sunshine.
