Organisation Details
The Link Community Hub works to help those in need and link together people and partnerships by raising awareness, tackling local issues, and supporting the community. They achieve this by delivering a variety of projects and support, which includes running social groups, coordinating community celebrations, and hosting local initiatives like a pop-up police station.
The organization also provides more direct support through its welcoming community room, offering resources, information, classes, and a space for residents to connect over a coffee. The primarily serves the Stradbroke community and the wider local area.
Project Details
The Link Community Centre have been struggling to meet the demand in recent times. As a result they have been able to asset transfer a bungalow previously used by the NHS and Sheffield local authority. The redundant premises is now needing to undergo a renovation. This is where your help will be required. Activities for this project include:
- Preparing surfaces
- Filling any holes
- Painting walls
- Glossing woodworks
Volunteer Numbers and Days
We are looking to complete two back-to-back days of volunteering. This ensures a quick turnaround for The Link to be able to use the space.
We are able to accommodate up to 20 volunteers on each volunteer day.
On-site support
On the day Participate will be providing a member of staff to support the volunteers. A trained first aider and first aid kit will be available during the challenge. A tools talk and health and safety briefing will be given by Participate at the beginning of the day. We will also share with you our completed Risk Assessment for your own records.
Preparation
Volunteers will be undertaking painting activities and are required to wear old and reasonably robust clothing that you will not mind getting paint on. We do offer paint overalls, although these do not guarantee no damage to clothing. We also require sensible sturdy footwear, avoiding heels and open toe footwear. Where personal protective equipment is required, it will be provided.
