Organisation Details
Adel and Ireland Wood Community Centre is a vibrant and welcoming local hub based in Leeds. Operating as a versatile public venue, the centre connects the local neighbourhood by hosting an array of essential classes, creative workshops, and community events. It provides a reliable and accessible space where diverse groups gather—benefiting everyone from young children attending ballet and activities to older residents participating in local health and wellbeing groups.
Project Details
This well used space has not been repainted in over 7 years and is really showing signs of wear. Your task will be to repaint the main hall space. This will include:
- Preparing surfaces
- Two coats of Acrylic Durable Matt on walls
- Gloss all skirting boards and doors
Date & Volunteer Number
We are looking for teams of 10-15 volunteers. This will need to take place during August 2026 as this is when the centre is used less. We welcome a team suggesting a date for August 2026.
On-site support
On the day Participate will be providing a member of staff to support the volunteers. A trained first aider and first aid kit will be available during the challenge. A “Tools Talk” and health and safety briefing will be given by Participate at the beginning of the day.
Preparation
Volunteers will be undertaking painting activities and are required to wear old and reasonably robust clothing that you will not mind getting paint on. We do offer paint overalls, although these do not guarantee no damage to clothing. We also require sensible sturdy footwear, avoiding heels and open toe footwear. Where personal protective equipment is required, it will be provided.
Materials, tools and equipment
For contract partners looking to take up this opportunity, there will be a need to purchase materials (paint and gloss). Tools such as rollers and brushes will be provided by Participate Projects
