Confirmed – Thursday 17th September 2026

Organisation Details

Based at Addingham Football & Scout Pavillion, the scouts meet four times a week. They use the Main Hall of the Pavillion that is also frequently used by The Guide Dog Society alongside regular older groups and wellbeing cafes.

Project Details

The main hall and corridors have not been painted in over 10 years so is in need of repainting.

Each space will follow the same process: Prepare surfaces > First coat (Acrylic Durable Matt) > Second Coat (Acrylic Durable Matt) > Clean-up

Dates and Volunteer Number

Although flexible and keen to engage volunteers, Thursdays are the best day for a team of volunteers. This minimises current service disruption. If this does not work, other days can be discussed.

We are seeking 10–15 volunteers to complete the project effectively.

On-site support

On the day Participate will be providing a member of staff to support the volunteers. A trained first aider and first aid kit will be available during the challenge. A tools talk and health and safety briefing will be given by Participate at the beginning of the day. We will also share with you our completed Risk Assessment for your own records.

Preparation

Volunteers will be undertaking painting activities and are required to wear old and reasonably robust clothing that you will not mind getting paint on. We do offer paint overalls, although these do not guarantee no damage to clothing. We also require sensible sturdy footwear, avoiding heels and open toe footwear. Where personal protective equipment is required, it will be provided.
