Organisation Details
The New Testament Church of God (NTCG) is a community-focused hub dedicated to serving residents in Bradford beyond its own congregation. By providing a welcoming space for meaningful engagement, they tackle social isolation through practical initiatives such as a ‘Men in Sheds’ group, regular luncheon meetings, and inclusive coffee mornings. Their work creates vital social value by supporting diverse groups, including young people and older residents, through accessible grassroots activities.
Project Details
The building itself has become quite run down over the years, with several rooms requiring significant long-term investment to return them to a modern standard. However, the church has identified specific areas that are in a much more hospitable condition and are currently used for their vital community work. We are looking for a team of volunteers to help revitalise these active spaces by refreshing the decor and making them feel more welcoming for the residents who use them. This will include:
- Preparing surfaces
- Filling any holes
- Painting walls
- Glossing woodworks
The school has a number of buddy benches they have purchased over the years. These benches have been transformational for children’s social development during play times. They would like to add to this with further two new benches.
Number of Volunteers
We are looking for a team of up to 10 volunteers.
On-site support
On the day Participate will be providing a member of staff to support the volunteers. A trained first aider and first aid kit will be available during the challenge. A tools talk and health and safety briefing will be given by Participate at the beginning of the day. We will also share with you our completed Risk Assessment for your own records.
Preparation
Volunteers will be undertaking painting activities and are required to wear old and reasonably robust clothing that you will not mind getting paint on. We do offer paint overalls, although these do not guarantee no damage to clothing. We also require sensible sturdy footwear, avoiding heels and open toe footwear. Where personal protective equipment is required, it will be provided.
